Amun Ini is an Ilonggo word which means “this is ours”, signifying the resort’s passion of making you feel that it becomes yours, too, — your home away from home whenever you stay at Amun Ini Resort in Bohol.
We have always been on the lookout for the best resorts to stay and we noticed that while Amun Ini is not widely popular among Boholano locals, the resort is always included in the top resorts in Bohol whether you search it on Google, Tripadvisor or any booking sites on the internet.

So we went our way to Anda, and stayed at the resort for 3 days to get to know why.
There are reasons why Amun Ini Resort is one of the best luxury resorts in Bohol and we finally found them out!
1. COUNTRYSIDE AMBIENCE
Amun Ini is located in Anda, Bohol, which is around 3-4 hours away from Panglao International Airport. A lot of people say that Anda is like Panglao years ago before it became very popular as a tourist destination. So if you are looking for a resort that’s located away from the hustle and bustle of the city life, away from the crowd and noises, Amun Ini is the way to go.
What’s nice about it is that on your road trip to Anda, you will already enjoy magnificent ocean views along the coastal highways and savor the beautiful provincial life in Bohol. It’s not just the destination, it’s also the journey that comes along with it.
2. ENCHANTING ENTRANCE
Upon arrival at Amun Ini, we found their gate very simple and in fact, we felt like there was no sign of anything special inside it. But the moment we entered the resort and drove ourselves to the main entrance, the vibe already started to change.
The main door of the resort has this Bali-vibe, with a huge tree and plants surrounding it. We were a bit puzzled why the door was closed when we arrived, although there’s one staff member outside waiting for us. To our surprise, the door opened when we got closer to it and all the other staff were behind it, greeting us to welcome.
We love surprises and that was definitely a first time, so far, among all the luxury resorts in Bohol that we’ve been to!
3. NATURE IN ITS RAWEST FORM
One of the things that makes Amun Ini different is that nature here is so preserved, at their rawest form, it’s like staying in a forest but with all the luxuries you need.
The owner of the resort, Sir Federico Carmona, is passionate about the environment and we had the privilege to have conversations with him. While most nature-luxury resorts have very well-polished landscapes, Amun Ini is designed with less-manicured plants and gardens. As Sir Fred said, the resort is not for everybody. It’s for authentic nature lovers out there who enjoy nature at its rawest and most natural form.
The resort is also home to plants we rarely see anywhere and are already expensive in the market nowadays.
4. THERAPEUTIC LUXURY ROOM
Amun Ini resort has 16 fully-furnished rooms located in two-storey thatched roof longhouses with spectacular views of the Bohol Sea and Camiguin island. In the morning, you’ll hear the gentle splashes of the waves, birds chirping and soothing sounds of provincial life.
We were privileged to be given the room with the best view in the resort and our stay was truly a perfect staycation experience.
The Interiors
The room isn’t that big but the first thing we noticed is how relaxing and clean the neutral and earth tones color choices are. We also loved how they added Philippine decorative accessories and lighting made out of sustainable, natural materials. We saw locally hand woven mats framed as wall decors, abaca carpet, wooden trunk table, native resort bag, rattan storage baskets, woven tissue holder, Filipino-designed and woven bed runner, bamboo holders and many more. Not only was the room filled with Filipino touches but also every corner of the resort has Filipino-inspired decors that are slowly immersing you into our very own Filipino culture.
The Amenities
The room is complete with all the amenities that you need. It is air-conditioned, has a flat screen cable TV, internet, water heater, hair dryer and mini-bar.
The Bathroom
We love Amun Ini’s bathroom! It is so clean and doesn’t get dirty easily. Probably the highlight there would be the see-through glass window that gives you a view of the bed and balcony. On each side are mirrors for him and her that you can flip when you need it. It also has a huge mirror perfect for OOTDs and two wooden cabinet shelves enough to store your things. Both the toilet and shower area have a relaxing overlooking garden view.
The Balcony
Also our favorite part of the room is the outdoor balcony. From there, you can see the natural gardens, the resort’s infinity pool and the calming waters. Also, can you notice the pebbles in the balcony? Walking barefoot through stones and pebbles is a form of therapy as stepping on stones stimulates gentle accupressure on the soles of your feet, therefore promoting better health.
Even without them saying it, to us it was so evident that Amun Ini is an eco-friendly resort. We didn’t see any plastic containers in the room and around the resort. Everything was reusable and environment-friendly, which is a very good thing.
5. EXCELLENT HOUSEKEEPING
This is definitely one of the things that surprised us the most about Amun Ini. We’ve been to a lot of luxury resorts in Bohol with top-notch facilities and outstanding services like that of Amorita Resort but it’s the first time that we encountered the kind of housekeeping style that Amun Ini has.
We arrived at our rooms, placed our luggages and went outside to explore. When we got back to our room after dinner, the bed runner was already placed in the cabinet, the excess pillows on the bed were moved to the sofa and the morning amenities like the coffee, tea and heater were already placed on the table for easy access. It’s like they arranged the room for us, ready for bedtime.
The next morning, while we enjoyed our breakfast at the restaurant, they also took the time to clean our room, replenish what we consumed, arrange unnecessary mess — all while taking care of our valuables and personal stuff.
When it rained, they already went ahead of us and placed an umbrella outside our door even before we asked for it. They made sure our room was well-kept during our entire stay.
6. AL-FRESCO DINING WITH A VIEW AND GREAT FOOD
Amun Ini is well-known for its outstanding cuisine in this side of Bohol. As a family-owned resort, the cuisine they serve is a narrative of their family’s culinary heritage and experience. They have taken their family-held recipes, made use of fresh and locally grown ingredients, and use first-class culinary techniques to create a menu that guests love.
The al-fresco restaurant is the focal point of the resort which has a scenic view of their infinity pool, the beach, the ocean and Camiguin island in the horizon. From the thatched roof to their hanging decors, lighting, tables, wine counter and the staff’s traditional Boholano dresses, we’ve never felt so at home that we spent a huge amount of our time there.
We love their beef caldereta, boneless chicken, crispy thin crust shrimp pizza, pan seared fish fillet, their lava cake and literally everything in their breakfast menu as well. Their food is just so good and legit, even just in the restaurant is already an experience in itself.
7. INFINITY POOL AND SECLUDED WHITE SAND BEACH
Just a few steps in front of the restaurant is the resort’s infinity pool which has an overlooking view of the clear blue waters of Bohol. What’s cool about their pool is that it has ‘’sploungers’’ that are immersed into ankle-deep pool waters. You can also lounge in the day beds by the pool side. The resort’s infinity pool is also perfect for diving pool sessions.
Amun Ini’s secluded white sand beach is also a sight to behold! Their 300-meter pristine white sand beach meets with the clear turquoise waters, bordered with greenery and lush hills on both sides. Very raw, untouched and spectacular— they even have beach access that radiates a mini- Amanpulo vibe!
8. FIRST CLASS DIVING SHOP AND AMAZING DIVE SITES
Bohol is located in the center of the coral triangle, which is a global center of biodiversity comprising 76% of the world’s coral species, 6 of the world’s 7 marine turtle species, and over 2,000 reef fish species. No wonder why people from all over the globe travel all the way to Amun Ini to dive as the resort provides the best opportunity to experience this beautiful underwater paradise.
Amun ini dive has more than 33 dive sites which range from breathtaking wall diving with large schools of fish as well as a mind-blowing variety of critters such as thorny seahorses, pygmy seahorse, endless nudibranchs, blue ring octopus, mimic octopus, crabs, shrimps, crabs, turtles wunderpus, mandarin fish and among others.
If you’re new to diving, just like us, you can try basics of scuba diving where you will be taught and accompanied by their experienced dive instructions. We did our first certification for basic scuba diving with them and we had a great time! Swam with almost 15 big turtles, saw sardines, different kinds of fishes, clams and colorful corals!
Now we understand why Amun Ini is one of the best diving centers not just in Bohol but around the world! Not only do they provide top-notch diving experiences, they also do outstanding work in helping the government when it comes to marine protection and coral restoration.
Other water activities in Amun Ini include snorkeling, kayaking and paddle boarding.
9. NEW SUNSET TERRACE
This is a new addition to Amun Ini and we had the privilege to be the first ones to enjoy it. The sunset terrace is a 500 sq m. chillout space which has a magical view of the Camiguin island.
Definitely an Amun Ini style of relaxing and chasing sunset perhaps with a glass of cocktail or wine. 🍹
10. WARM BOHOLANO HOSPITALITY
One of the highlights of our Amun Ini staycation is its people and the warm Boholano hospitality that we’ve felt throughout our stay.
Luxury resorts usually provide first-class, formal, personalized and warm hospitality to their guests but Amun Ini takes it to another level. The place is so homey and welcoming. Everyone was attentive to our needs. Even the owner talked to us like we’re part of the family. They are simple but genuine. They made our stay worthwhile. They made it difficult for us to leave.
COVID-19 Safety Protocols
It’s noteworthy that they skipped the usual check in and reception and brought us directly to our room instead. They have individualized hygiene kits, too, which includes face masks and alcohols.
They also provided us with a resort cellphone that we can bring anywhere in the resort so we can call them whenever we need anything instead of having to physically see each other.
The staff are wearing face masks and are vigilant as well.
Special Thanks
Thank you to the resort owner, Sir Federico Carmona, for welcoming us with so much warmth and for making us feel so at home. We enjoyed our conversations and we learned a lot from you. See you again soon.
Special thanks also to Maam Jossie, sir Lito and their diving team…
Amun Ini was definitely a surprise to us. It felt like a therapy, a much needed trip that we didn’t know we needed. We wish our photos and writings can tell but there’s this Amun Ini magic that is meant to be experienced.
And great news for Boholano’s! They’re currently running a staycation promo that you wouldn’t want to miss!
