Chasing sunsets will always be our favorite thing to do.
Be it in the mountains, in the seas, in the skies or just in our balcony, there was never a sunset that we didn’t like.
We went parasailing in Boracay during the golden hour and sailed for 4 days with Big Dream Boatman in Coron, witnessing glorious sunsets in the boat.
And as we mark our first milestone as a married couple, we couldn’t think of any other way to do it than to celebrate it with sunset sailing.
This time, in a luxury yacht in Bohol.

Seas may get rough,
Storms may arise,
But as long as I’m with you,
Where the wind blows I will go.
Where the wave flows, I will go.In every sunrise and every moonrise,
When the sun sets to the night skies,
I’ll be here, you have my hand
Till we’re washed back to the sand.Where you go, I will go.
Where you stay I will stay.
So long as it’s with you,
Where the wind blows I will go.
Where the wave flows, I will go.Slowly and steady,
Poem By Krich
Through the highs and the lows,
It may be safe in the shore
but I don’t mind sailing away with you.
Are you planning a yacht photoshoot, too? Whether it’s for your prenup, wedding, anniversary or any milestone in life, here are 5 tips that can help you make your dream yacht photoshoot come true.
1. Choose the Right Yacht Rental
Renting a yacht that knows the best sunset spot in the island is key to creating beautiful yacht photos. We came across Hercules Yacht who does sunset sailing in the Catamaran and we can’t recommend them highly enough.
Krzysz (Polish owner) and Jess (Filipino caretaker) were very hospitable and accommodating, taking care of the best sunset spots while we enjoyed the view. From the moment they met with us on the shore to the time we set foot on the boat, their service is just superb!
You can check out their website for commercial sailing rates or contact them directly for yacht photoshoot sessions.

2. Check the Weather of your Photoshoot Day
The weather will always be out of our control. All we can do is pick the months with less probability of rains or typhoons. The Philippines is a tropical country with only 2 seasons: wet season from June to early October and dry season from late October to May.
Ours was a wedding anniversary photoshoot and it falls in September. There was even a typhoon that brought heavy rains days prior to our anniversary. We were worried but miraculously, God gave us beautiful weather that day. Forever grateful for God’s favor!
3. Be there Early
There’s beauty in catching sunrise and chasing sunset. But keep in mind that the sun wouldn’t wait for you. It rises and sets on time. Being there early is crucial to getting the best lighting for your photos. 4pm to 6pm is ideal for sunset photoshoots.
4. Dress Appropriately
You can be creative with your yacht photoshoot outfits. You can either choose neutral colors to blend in like white, beige, light grey and khaki or you can stand out with sunset colors like mustard yellow, rustic orange, light violet and yellowish-orange. Color palette is essential and dressing appropriately will help your photographer process the photos faster and come up with beautiful hues.
For our shoot, we chose white and khaki. When all else fails, you can never go wrong with white. 😉
Bonus Tip: To complete the entire look and mood of your photoshoot, getting your trusted hair and makeup artist is the way to go. We loved to always look enhanced yet still natural so we asked Yan Tiempo to glam us for the day. He was our HMUA artist during our prenup and wedding day so we were already more comfortable during our anniversary shoot. ;)
5. Hire a Local Photographer
Sunset photos are quite challenging to take since you have to play with lights and shadows in a limited time. All the more when you’re in a moving boat!
If you are travelling in Bohol, having a local photographer will give you peace of mind that he is already familiar with the place and the angles that he can take.
Our photos were taken by Vhince Chiu, one of the best local photographers in Bohol. We only had around an hour of shooting proper but he was able to get the right frames, angles and lighting despite being a one-man team.
A yacht photoshoot is dreamy, luxurious, romantic… and possible! Plus it’s safer this COVID-19 as sailing on the seas makes you socially distant from the crowd.
If you plan to visit Bohol, you can sneak in sunset sailing in your itinerary and experience an exclusive yacht photoshoot while cruising the Bohol seas.
